Macedonian Folklore Ensemble Ilinden

For many years from now, in the Macedonian Orthodox Church St. ILIJA from Mississauga, is operational the traditional folklore dancing group ILINDEN.

The group is performing traditional dances from various regions of Macedonia.

In effort to nurture our cultural heritage, the young generations are introduced to the old traditions of celebrating family anniversaries, weddings or even love stories, just the way their grandparents were living a century ago in our distant country of origin - Macedonia.

Contributing to multicultural exchange in Mississauga municipal, comprised of many different nations’ communities, Macedonian Folklore Ensemble ILINDEN performs in many multicultural festivals like CARABRAM and CARASSAUGA, supported by city of Mississauga.

In order to be more authentic, the group has support from the ministry of emigration of the Republic of Macedonia, in matter of authentic wardrobes, and accessories that can origin only from Macedonia.

In many occasions, Macedonian Folklore Ensemble ILINDEN is guest dancing group in other communities anniversaries, invited to enrich their program with our presentation.

The tradition of cultivation of our traditional dances goes a few generations ago, so that our present choreographers of the dances once when they were kids were dance performers themselves, as their teachers before also was.
